Revenue from the

Licenses for gaming houses, it

cooperation in putting down all

and with it the

existing corruption of the Police,

have

been possible to have

made

both ends meet

32. Those houses will

in

a few days

in accordance

with arrangements

completed so far as

to render

it imperative to the Licensees

to forbid it.

I shall thereby be

able to gather experience of a valuable kind from their working. Nevertheless as

I never

engaged

any plan for merely opening gaming

Houses

unless

calculated to

on conditions

ensure

to close them

on the

1st of next January, and therefore

the Revenue derivable

thence

though imposed for merely Police

purposes cannot bring

the

collateral relief it might have

to the finances of

afforded

the Colony during next year.
